苦手な花材をあえて選択！

生花正風体のお稽古をさせていただきました。
この日は花材を自分で選べましたので、
菊を真に、オクロレウカと竜胆で三種生けに挑戦しました。

菊はとても格の高い花のため、実は苦手でしたが、今回出会った素敵なピンク色の菊を、
澄んだ秋の空気を思わせる青い竜胆で引き立たせられたかなと思います。

菊も竜胆も茎は硬くて折れやすく、オクロレウカには杜若同様に約束事が沢山(葉の表裏、長短、爪の向きなど)ありますが、格闘した甲斐はありました。

Practiced Shoka Sanshuike.
As we could select the floral materials by ourselves in this lesson, I picked up chrysanthemum as Shin, Iris ochroleuca and gentian.
While chrysanthemum is one of the most revered floral materials in Ikenobo ikebana, it’s the one I want to avoid, to be honest…
But, for the mum flowers in lovely pink I encountered this time, I could somehow manage to make a beautiful contrast with gentian flowers whose blue hue reminds me of crisp autumn air.
The stems of mum and gentian got easily broken when trying to curve, and there were many rules to follow when making pairs of Iris ochroleuca leaves, eg, front or back side, difference in length, direction of leaf tips, etc, just like Iris laevigata.
Despite all these difficulties, it’s been worth trying.
